Music, Chanting, Rhythms For Self Discovery

BASICINDIA INVITES YOU TO
“MUSIC CIRCLE”

A special kind of workshop, which uses music, chanting and rhythms for self-discovery

Saswad, near Pune
Sat 15th and Sun 16th February 2014

Neredu Valley,  near Bangalore
Sat 1st and Sun 2nd March 2014

Conducted by German singer Sabine Bundschu

Music, rhythm and chanting – could there be a more joyous way to self-discovery? Sabine Bundschu brings together these three elements in her workshop “Music Circle” specially designed for music lovers, group leaders in all fields, educators, music teachers and therapists.

Music and rhythm have a way of grounding us, says Sabine, of expanding our perception and bringing us into deep contact with ourselves and with the others in the group. In addition, chanting gives us a special understanding of our own voice, even while connecting us with “the whole”. To sing whole-heartedly is to experience the healing power of music. You don’t have to be an “expert” to enjoy this work, adds Sabine. All it requires is curiosity and interest in learning new ways, and a love of music and rhythm.

Among the things we will learn and experience is “Taketina”– a meditative group process developed by Austrian born Reinhard Flatischler, based on the use of multi leveled rhythms. Taketina has also been described as “rhythm for evolution, and uses the body as instrument to guide one into inner silence.” This unique work helps us to explore the bridge between the conscious and the subconscious mind in a way we are not able to do in our daily life. The three rhythmic layers are represented by vocalization, claps and steps, backed by a drum. Taketina allows participants to move at their own pace while exploring different levels of awareness, and to find their own way through to their centre. It helps individuals to see where they are in relation to the rhythm, both within and outside themselves. In turn this helps them to discover areas where they might be out of tune in their own lives.

About Sabine Bundschu:

Sabine, primarily an actress and a singer, has performed alongside a number of well-known singers ranging from the German icon, Nina Hagen, to Kenny Rodgers, Peggy March and Ron Williams. She has been a founding member of the group “Electric Ladyland”. She has studied Taketina under Reinhard Flatischler and the art of drumming with Glen Velez. Today she conducts workshops based on music and rhythm in Germany and elsewhere in Europe.

Bodywork Sessions November/December 2012

                                                    A Basicindia Project

Three day intensive workshop on Bodywork
By Rupert Sieben and Brigitte Quadflieg
Mumbai
Friday 30th November to Sunday 2nd December 2012

Rupert and Brigitte, whose bodywork programmes till now have been a huge success will be back in India, soon. The three day intensive workshop which they will conduct in Mumbai from November 30th to December 2nd, is geared both, to psychotherapists wanting to expand their knowledge and skills as well as to lay people interested in self awareness through getting in touch with the wisdom of their bodies.

A little about the process:
The human body is home to all thoughts feelings and actions. Intuition always stems from the vibrations felt in the body. However we seem to have forgotten or ignored this in our emphasis on using the mind and concepts. Every emotion that is experienced is felt in some part of the body. Every emotion suppressed, is lodged in some parts of the body and each then becomes energy blocks. Real healing and transformation can happen when one works at the level of the body and releases the energy blocks.

Bodywork suggests that through awareness of the body we can gain access to the story of our lives and to our past traumas and issues. It helps to identify and resolve blocks which hinder us in life. A trained bodywork practitioner for example, can tell you much about your life and character simply by looking at the way you move or carry yourself. Bodywork helps us to re-align our bodies and our psyches in way that leads to greater awareness and fulfillment. It includes dance and movement, massage, breathwork and other techniques, all of which help to open up an entirely new range of experience in individuals.

Facilitators:

Rupert Sieben and Brigitte Quadflieg who will be conducting the sessions are both seasoned practitioners of bodywork from Germany. Their experience of over twenty years encompasses not only bodywork and talk therapy but transpersonal therapy and community building rituals. Students of Al Bauman in the U.S. and also of Michael Smith and Emily Derr, their work is based on the methods of Wilhelm Reich, a student and colleague of Sigmund Freud’s.
